The Production Village in Hartlepool is an ambitious development for The Northern School of Art, featuring extensive new builds designed to enhance creative education in the region. This multi-year project will be documented through compelling imagery and documentary coverage, capturing the progress and milestones from inception to completion. Throughout the current rebuild and upgrades of the Northern Studios for The Northern School of Art, I am documenting each stage of the transformation. My photographic work captures the entire process, from early construction phases to the final structural developments. This project aims to visually record the significant changes and progress as the studios are built and enhanced, providing a comprehensive visual narrative of this important moment for the institution.

Each photograph in this project is carefully composed to capture a distinct mood and perspective, offering viewers a diverse range of visual experiences. Through the use of varying angles, lighting, and framing, every image tells its own story, highlighting the unique moments and transitions occurring throughout the rebuild and upgrades of the Northern Studios. Some images focus on the sweeping changes by juxtaposing 'before' and 'after' shots, allowing us to reflect on the transformation over time. In several photographs, old materials are scattered across the floor, serving as silent witnesses to the building’s evolving narrative and hinting at its past life. The textures and colors of these remnants add depth and context to the unfolding story. Exterior shots often reveal the original structure standing alongside the new developments, emphasizing the contrast between heritage and progress. The interplay between construction activity and stillness, as well as the changing natural light, further enhances the emotional impact of each scene. These visual elements work together to create a comprehensive and evocative chronicle of the project’s journey. By documenting both the chaos and order, the demolition and creation, each image becomes a chapter in the ongoing story of renewal. My aim is not only to record the architectural changes but also to evoke a sense of wonder, nostalgia, and anticipation in those who view the work. Through this approach, the project serves as a testament to the continuous evolution of creative spaces and the layered histories they contain.
